Natural Language in Multiple Places

BusyCal supports natural language in multiple ways:

  1. Quick Entry button (+ in toolbar) - Always available for natural language input, see Quick Entry.
  2. Direct in Month, Day and Week views - When this setting is enabled with inline editor, you can also use natural language when creating events directly in the calendar

Create events faster in Month View using natural language with the inline editor:

When you double-click to create an event in Month View, BusyCal can automatically parse what you type to extract event details. For example, typing "Lunch with Sarah at 12pm at Cafe Blue" creates an event with:

  • Title: "Lunch with Sarah"
  • Time: 12:00 PM
  • Location: "Cafe Blue"

Enabling Natural Language

Natural language input directly from within the calendar requires the inline editor. To enable:

  1. Go to BusyCal > Settings > Info Panel
  2. Disable "Open Info Panel for new events" to use the inline editor
  3. Go to BusyCal > Settings > Advanced > Other
  4. Enable "Use natural language processing for events created in Month view"

Now when you create events in Month View via a double-click, the inline editor will parse your input automatically.
